Olympic Ready Makeup

When you think of the winter olympics you think of cold, cold, cold......right? Exactly! Have you ever wondered what type of makeup the olympians use while performing? While I was watching the figure skating games last night, I could not help but admire the makeup and hair that were worn by the female figure skaters. As a professional makeup artist my guess is that their foundation is silicone based. A silicone based foundation such as Hourglass Cosmetics - Veil Fluid Makeup will give you that All Day, Long-Wearing look that you need for a stellar performance. I have to say that Hourglass is my #1 foundation of choice right now. It is sold online or select Sephora stores near you.

What is you're Valentines Day "Look" going to be?

Try using the 4 C's as your guideline
CONCEAL, CHEEKS, CONTOUR and COLOR
Concealer – One of the challenging things for most women is finding your true concealer. Two things to take into consideration when you are selecting a concealer is “The consistency”: AmazingConcealer is one of my favorite concealers. It comes in 7 different shades and costs ($48).
Cheeks – I have to say that my all time favorite blush is “Orgasm” by NARS. It just goes well with any skin type and undertone. NARS has a Valentines day set that comes complete with blush, lipstick, and a lip pencil. Visit their website for more details.
Color – Adding a hint of color to your lips is always sexy and attractive. Bobbi Brown cosmetics have some of the best lipstick collections on the market. Once you have selected your personal favorite, you’re ready for a night out with your honey!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010

Diane von Furstenberg is one of my favorite fashion week collections. Her bohemian style reminds me of being back home in Trinidad embracing the coastal breeze. Her spring collection takes you on a journey from Greece to Asia and back. Collecting influences from all of these places.
Floral dresses add an ethnic twist that will take your imagination on a sensory trip. There were even wardrobe building pieces like a structured gold blazer
Shop the Diane von Furstenberg Spring collection at dvf.com
Essence Magazine, Mikki Taylor takes us backstage at NY Fashion week 2010. It's all about letting your beautiful face show. With pulled back chignon's and bold makeup! Either around the eyes, on the lips or on the cheeks. However you chose, don't be shy about color this season !!
See ya there in 2011 !!

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper promoted MAC's Viva Glam lipstick today on NBC's Today Show with Al and Hoda. I thought that this was a one of a kind interview. Cyndi Lauper is Lady Gaga's idol. It was amazing to see these two pop singers together.
Viva Glam lipsticks ($14) is a MUST in every makeup kit for every woman. I love all the shades. Not only are you able to wear a beautiful shade of lipstick but you are supporting a good cause. AIDS awareness! You can always recognize the Viva Glam lipsticks at the MAC counter because they have a RED rim. So stop by the MAC counter today or visit http://www.maccosmetics.com/ for your donation to AIDS awareness.
My favorite.....Viva Glam V !! :)

After a decade British- Nigerian singer Sade releases a new album. “Soldier of Love”
She has always had a very chic sassy look. Sade knows that a woman with pulled back hair and a strong-yet simple makeup will always make a statement.
Video: Sade Performs “Soldier Of Love” (Live) on The Today Show

Sade looks just as gorgeous now as she did with the release of her 25 year old album “Smooth Operator”.
Sade is rocking a strong yet subtle look. Here are some product suggestions that can help you duplicate this look at home. After cleansing and toning with your cleansing regimen apply a light liquid foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Alison Raffaele Cosmetics – Reality Base foundation is infused with antioxidants. It offers medium coverage with a satin finish. ($38 alisonraffaele.com)
You can also dilute your foundation with a little bronzer. ((“I know it’s Winter so what! Be different. Pretend you are in your favorite warm climate”.))
As for the eyes use a bronzy gold shade on the lids and a nice chocolate brown in the corners. One of my favorite cosmetic lines is Nixie Cosmetics. Not many peope know them, but they’re really good. Their eyeshadows are huge and you can also make your own palette. While you are shopping at Nixie make sure you pick up a lipstick or two to create the very powerful “signature” lip that Sade is known for!
($14 lipsticks and $15 eyeshadows)

Hair and makeup at the 2010 Grammy's

You gotta love taylor Swift. She is "as cute as pie". As we say in the south. She is very consistent with her look. The curly swept away ponytail is her. Her makeup is simple but age appropriate. what can I say about her gown.....TIMELESS!
Lady GAGA. Now I have to say, her makeup is always on point! If anyone knows who her makeup artist is, send the info my way. I love the futuristic look. Lady Gaga OWNS that Avante Garde look. Yeah we know that she is a bt extreme, but hey it works for her. I heard a reporter refer to her outfit (shown above) as "The Solar System costume". I thought that was a bit funny :)
Beyonce's red carpet dress was BEAUTIFUL. The thing that I liked the most about it was the material. It was very classic. (I wonder if her mom designed it ? : ) ) Her makeup was natural and beautiful. I have to say to all you ladies out there. "When you have flawless youthful looking skin, you do not have to use too much makeup. Beyonce is the prime example of this. Her foundation always looks so natural. Her hair looks great. I am glad she changed it from the bang she had when she performed at George Clooney's "Relief for Haiti telethon". I was happy to see that.
Here is a pic of Miley Cyrus looking all grown up at the Grammy's. Her hair looks AMAZING! looIt looks as though she has some extensions in. My guess will be that she is wearing a few clip-on extensions. I definely wouldn't change anythig about her hair. The color and the length totally suits her. Her makeup artist obeyed the golden rule, " If you go heavy on the eyes, keep it neutral on the lips". I love, love love her dress. She ks SEXY not CUTE. Which is the look I think she was going for.
