What is you're Valentines Day "Look" going to be?

Try using the 4 C's as your guideline

CONCEAL, CHEEKS, CONTOUR and COLOR

Concealer – One of the challenging things for most women is finding your true concealer. Two things to take into consideration when you are selecting a concealer is “The consistency”: AmazingConcealer is one of my favorite concealers. It comes in 7 different shades and costs ($48).

Cheeks – I have to say that my all time favorite blush is “Orgasm” by NARS. It just goes well with any skin type and undertone. NARS has a Valentines day set that comes complete with blush, lipstick, and a lip pencil. Visit their website for more details.

Contour – I know that you may be thinking “Why do I need to contour?” well, contouring your face helps to accentuate your BEST features. You can also replace your blush with contour if you are not big on wearing blush. Another reason for using contour is….If you already have rosy cheeks, skip the blush and accentuate your cheek bones and let your natural cheek color act as your blush! Jouer Cosmetics has one of the best contour powders. I use this everyday on my "girls" at the Weather Channel. sometimes I even mix it with their Suntan Bronzer.

Color – Adding a hint of color to your lips is always sexy and attractive. Bobbi Brown cosmetics have some of the best lipstick collections on the market. Once you have selected your personal favorite, you’re ready for a night out with your honey!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010

Diane von Furstenberg is one of my favorite fashion week collections. Her bohemian style reminds me of being back home in Trinidad embracing the coastal breeze. Her spring collection takes you on a journey from Greece to Asia and back. Collecting influences from all of these places.

Floral dresses add an ethnic twist that will take your imagination on a sensory trip. There were even wardrobe building pieces like a structured gold blazer

Shop the Diane von Furstenberg Spring collection at dvf.com

Essence Magazine, Mikki Taylor takes us backstage at NY Fashion week 2010. It's all about letting your beautiful face show. With pulled back chignon's and bold makeup! Either around the eyes, on the lips or on the cheeks. However you chose, don't be shy about color this season !!

Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga talk about MAC Viva Glam lipstick on the Today Show

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper promoted MAC's Viva Glam lipstick today on NBC's Today Show with Al and Hoda. I thought that this was a one of a kind interview. Cyndi Lauper is Lady Gaga's idol. It was amazing to see these two pop singers together.

Viva Glam lipsticks ($14) is a MUST in every makeup kit for every woman. I love all the shades. Not only are you able to wear a beautiful shade of lipstick but you are supporting a good cause. AIDS awareness! You can always recognize the Viva Glam lipsticks at the MAC counter because they have a RED rim. So stop by the MAC counter today or visit http://www.maccosmetics.com/ for your donation to AIDS awareness.

My favorite.....Viva Glam V !! :)

SADE - - "Soldier of Love"

After a decade British- Nigerian singer Sade releases a new album. “Soldier of Love”
She has always had a very chic sassy look. Sade knows that a woman with pulled back hair and a strong-yet simple makeup will always make a statement.

Video: Sade Performs “Soldier Of Love” (Live) on The Today Show

Sade looks just as gorgeous now as she did with the release of her 25 year old album “Smooth Operator”.

Sade is rocking a strong yet subtle look. Here are some product suggestions that can help you duplicate this look at home. After cleansing and toning with your cleansing regimen apply a light liquid foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Alison Raffaele Cosmetics – Reality Base foundation is infused with antioxidants. It offers medium coverage with a satin finish. ($38 alisonraffaele.com)

You can also dilute your foundation with a little bronzer. ((“I know it’s Winter so what! Be different. Pretend you are in your favorite warm climate”.))

As for the eyes use a bronzy gold shade on the lids and a nice chocolate brown in the corners. One of my favorite cosmetic lines is Nixie Cosmetics. Not many peope know them, but they’re really good. Their eyeshadows are huge and you can also make your own palette. While you are shopping at Nixie make sure you pick up a lipstick or two to create the very powerful “signature” lip that Sade is known for!
($14 lipsticks and $15 eyeshadows)

Hair and makeup at the 2010 Grammy's

You gotta love taylor Swift. She is "as cute as pie". As we say in the south. She is very consistent with her look. The curly swept away ponytail is her. Her makeup is simple but age appropriate. what can I say about her gown.....TIMELESS!

Lady GAGA. Now I have to say, her makeup is always on point! If anyone knows who her makeup artist is, send the info my way.  I love the futuristic look. Lady Gaga OWNS that Avante Garde look. Yeah we know that she is a bt extreme, but hey it works for her. I heard a reporter refer to her outfit (shown above) as "The Solar System costume". I thought that was a bit funny :)

Beyonce's red carpet dress was BEAUTIFUL. The thing that I liked the most about it was the material. It was very classic. (I wonder if her mom designed it ? : ) ) Her makeup was natural and beautiful. I have to say to all you ladies out there. "When you have flawless youthful looking skin, you do not have to use too much makeup. Beyonce is the prime example of this. Her foundation always looks so natural. Her hair looks great. I am glad she changed it from the bang she had when she performed at George Clooney's "Relief for Haiti telethon". I was happy to see that.

Here is a pic of Miley Cyrus looking all grown up at the Grammy's. Her hair looks AMAZING! looIt looks as though she has some extensions in. My guess will be that she is wearing a few clip-on extensions. I definely wouldn't change anythig about her hair. The color and the length totally suits her. Her makeup artist obeyed the golden rule, " If you go heavy on the eyes, keep it neutral on the lips". I love, love love her dress. She ks SEXY not CUTE. Which is the look I think she was going for.

CBS Ambush Makeover #2

Makeovers are fun and everybody deserves one! Today CBS Better Mornings Atlanta news reporter, Corinna Allen ambushed Jessica Gowen. Jessica is the owner of CORE Pilates studio in Atlanta,GA. Jessica's clientel has become so large that she and her husband have decided to open another pilates studio in Buckhead.

Here is the best pic I can get of Jessica before here dramatic makeover. Jessica's everyday look is a ponytail and pilates attire. Today, myself and the team @ WAX studio in Atlanta is going to bring out the diva in Jessica!
Raney O'Keefe is a certified eyelash specialist in Atlanta. RAney is going to apply individual lashes on Jessica to give her eyes a more dramatic look! " Eyelash extensions are used to open up the eyes, so they can appear brighter and larger." - Raney
Jessica's has beautiful healthy long hair. "When you are doing a makeover it is important that you keep in mind the clients' lifestyle." - Zavia Cisca's palette
How I styled Jessica's hair? I round brushed Jessica's hair to give it body. I took small sections and pincurled them as a quick set to maintain the curl and the body.

Makeup? On Jessica, I used jouer Cosmetics. I chose Jouer because it gives a very natural finish. Also, Jouer labels their products for easy recognization. Since Jessica is wearing false lashes, I did not use ant procducts that will be difficult to remove. Such as: waterproof mascara or liquid gel liners.
As you can see, Jessica is all ready for the grand opening night of her new pilates studio!

What's in for the Fall?

"Bold Lips"-hues of reds, oranges and pinks. Find your shade. These colors all come in many differrent shades. it may be difficult to find the shade that you feel comfortable with. When you are using bold lip colors, you shopuld remember that you want your lipstick to looking vibrant and to last for hours. I would reccommend Estee Lauder Stay-in-place longwear lipstick. I love using this lipstick on my clients....especially brides.
"My Advice?": Be Creative! Bring out the artist in you.
Get 2 or 3 shades of lipstick and mix them together to create your "Signature Palette shade". Tip: Go to your local craft store and pick up an artist palette. which costs $3-$5 along with a spatula (.99) so you can create your new shade! It's fun, easy and very affordable. "Sultry Eyes"- "Lined" eyes are back in! Try lining eyes with a bronze , olive or even black kohl pencil. For Eyeshadow: Shades of plum, pewter, gray and taupe are suitablefor the Fall 2009 trend season."Eyebrows"- As natural as possible. "Strip lashes or individuals"?- Individuals! Use the individual lashes to fill in any gaps or spaces that you may have with your natural lashes. Strip lashes tend to give you a more false look. It's about enhancing your beauty by accentuating the areas of your Palette!

CBS Ambush Makeover #1

Ambush Makeover with Corinna Allen!

On August Corinna Allen from CBS Better Mornings Atlanta ambushed Tami Reid. The CBS Morning camera crew caught up with Tammie Reid and her husband at a local cafe. At that time, they quickly gathered her things and carried her away to The Wild Seed Boutique where the transformation process was about to be underway!

The Wild Seed Boutique

The Wild Seed Boutique in downtown Decatur was Fab! They have a great selection of clothing ranging from elegant to trendy. I really liked it here because it felt like you are in a huge closet with limitless options to chose from.

Tammie (before)

Here is Tami. She is a busy working mom of two and like most of us, doesn't have much time to do anything for herself. Well, She's in for a treat! I will be showing Tammie how to apply her makeup in as little as 5 minutes. I am also going to show her to turn that frumpy ponytail into a Glamorous Chignon!

Me applying makeup for Tammie's big reveal!

First, I applied Tami's makeup using Jouer Cosmetics. I love,love,love....did i say love? these products! I wanted to give Tammie a very natural easy 5 min. makeup application. Something that she can easily duplicate at home. I did a natural eye and gave her a bit more color on her lips.

Tammie's Chic Chignon

Here she is! Tammie's new chignon! I chose this look because, She is a busy mom of two. I simple brushed her hair back into an off-centered ponytail and braided a loose braid.
I then took the braid and fluffed it out a bit. Once that was all done I simply wrapped the loose braid around the ponytail holder and secured it with hair pins for a simple elegant look. The one thing that Tami loved the most was that - "It's easy for me to duplicate this at home" - Tammie Reid
